At the February 14, 2024 Regular Council Meeting, Council declared one (1) Councillor seat vacant, and at the same Meeting, Council has determined to fill this vacancy by appointment through a Call for Nominees in accordance with the Town of Midland’s Council Vacancy Policy.

Appointment Application Process
Any interested eligible individuals looking to apply must complete and submit the following documentation (Full Candidate package available here):
- Information for Candidates 2024 Council Vacancy
- Council Vacancy Application
- Declaration of Qualification Form
- Candidate Information Release Form
- Declaration of Confidentiality Form
- Endorsement of Nomination - Form 2 (25 signatures)
- Personal Statement of Qualification (optional) - must include the following:
- Typewritten
- 12-point font
- Letter size paper (8 ½” x 11”)
- Does not exceed 2 pages in length
- Applicants name and address
Apply in person - by appointment only
Applicants must provide the Clerk or designate with valid government issued ID along with the above noted documentation in person, during regular business hours (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday), at Town Hall, 575 Dominion Avenue, from Thursday February 15, 2024 until 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2024.
An appointment must be scheduled with the Clerk or designate for this purpose.
Important dates:
- Application deadline - Friday, March 8, 2024 (by 2:00 p.m.)
- Withdrawal of Application - Friday, March 8, 2024 (by 2:00 p.m.)
- Official List of Candidates to be posted on the Town website - Wednesday, March 13, 2024 (by 4:30 p.m.)
- Special Council Meeting - Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at a time to be determined by the Clerk.
