It is with great sorrow that the Town of Midland has lowered all flags at Municipal buildings to half-mast in memory of Deputy Mayor Jack Contin. The flags at Town Hall have been lowered to half-mast for Indigenous Veterans Day. Every year on November 8, we honour the immeasurable contributions and sacrifices made by First Nations, Inuit and Métis veterans.
Indigenous Veterans Day is a solemn occasion to recognize the unwavering courage and resilience exhibited by Indigenous service members.
Today we reflect on the profound impact of their service and express our deepest gratitude for their continued selfless commitment.

Today staff gathered with members of council, as well as attendees from the public to observe the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (September 30).
Patricia Monague, Culture and Heritage Coordinator for Beausoleil First Nation started us off with a smudging ceremony and prayer. Followed by words from Mayor Gordon, with other attendees sharing personal sentiments and experiences.
