The Town of Midland joined fellow Canadians, the Commonwealth countries, and citizens around the world in recognizing the Coronation of their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
As the first coronation to take place since Queen Elizabeth II was crowned in 1953, it was a historic moment for Canadians and people around the world to witness such an event in their lifetime. The Coronation took place on May 6, 2023, at Westminster Abbey in London, UK, where British monarchs had been crowned for centuries.
As part of the Commonwealth, the Canadian government honoured the event with national activities to celebrate their role with the Crown and the connection between His Majesty and Canada. The Town of Midland took part in the National Illumination Initiative by illuminating the Midland Public Library in emerald green throughout the Coronation weekend.
