Outdoor Patios for Restaurants
Restaurants can take advantage of warm weather and offer outdoor dining on their premises or in the Town right-of-way (typically on sidewalks). Patios are great additions to many businesses and allow residents and visitors to enjoy your establishment in new ways.
What are the Town's Requirements?
To set up an outdoor patio in the Town of Midland establishments need to follow our Outdoor Patio Guidelines and make an application. The Town reviews Outdoor Patio Applications and design concepts from businesses to ensure:
- Universal accessibility
- Public safety (including Fire and separation from traffic)
- Enhancement of the streetscape experience
- A patio does not negatively impact the streetscape but rather is an enhancement.
- Temporary tents are only permitted for a maximum of 4 weeks, unless exemption is provided from the Executive Director, Community and Growth.
