Areas under site plan control are identified by the Site Plan Control By-law 2013-13, as amended. It’s important to determine if the property is subject to Site Plan Control before you begin the building permit application process, as Site Plan Approval is one of the requirements of a complete building permit application. The By-law does exempt certain types of development and those are noted in Section 6.

Site plan approval is a required process that you must follow for most developments including commercial, industrial, and some residential. It may also be required for building renovations or additions.

Delegated Authority |
Authority to approve Site Plan Applications has been delegated by Council to the Executive Director of Planning, Building, By-law (or designate) under By-law 2022-29. |
