Midland proclaims Terry Fox Week

Whereas; On April 12, 1980, Terry Fox undertook his Marathon of Hope, his determination, compassion and drive in the fight against cancer continues to inspire people worldwide; and

Whereas; People worldwide are encouraged to join together and participate in the annual Terry Fox Run, whether by walking, running, or volunteering, to honour the legacy of Terry Fox and contribute to the ongoing battle against cancer and to raise funds for cancer research, treatment, and support services that make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by this disease; and

Whereas; The Annual Terry Fox run has become a symbol of hope and shows the power of community involvement, the Town of Midland encourages everyone to participate this year by honouring the legacy of Terry Fox, and coming together to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by cancer, and

Whereas; The Terry Fox Run will take place on Sunday, September 15, 2024, in the Town of Midland. This event gives the community an opportunity to get involved in the efforts to find a cure for cancer, while sharing the spirit of unity, determination, and compassion exemplified by Terry Fox, as he continues to inspire individuals of all ages, encouraging them to make a difference in the fight against cancer.

Therefore, I, Bill Gordon, Mayor of the Town of Midland, do hereby proclaim the week of September 9 to September 15, 2024 as Terry Fox Week.
