"We are here to celebrate Ontario Public Library Week, which takes place from October 20th to October 26th. Thank you to the dedicated staff from Midland Public Library for organizing this important flag raising.
Libraries are more than just a place to find books. They offer a vibrant community space, open to all, where knowledge, creativity, and connections thrive. Libraries build spaces to promote cultural awareness, engage with the community, staff host educational programs, support a variety of learning objectives and so much more.
This year’s theme is “Libraries For Life” which acknowledges the importance of libraries as an lifelong institution. Libraries are a constant presence in our lives, through all stages of life. From children attending their first story time, students looking for a space to study and learn, adults receiving support with income taxes, and so much more.
Here in Midland, library service began in 1880. Only two years after the town was incorporated. What truly makes the Midland Public Library special is the dedicated staff who are the heart of the institution. They are champions of inclusion, community engagement and foster a love of learning across generations.
Their work goes beyond the shelves. They are community leaders and builders who ensure our library evolves with the changing needs of our town, providing innovative services that make our library an essential resource for all. Thank you for your passion and commitment to enriching lives and strengthening the fabric of our community.
If you haven’t visited the library in a while, make your way over or check out their website. As we heard, there are so many things happening right here at our library. Pick up a book, sign up for some fantastic programs, just have fun exploring what is available to us as a community." - Councillor Catherine MacDonald
