Royal Canadian Legion supports Midland Fire Department with purchasing new thermal technology
For Immediate Release
(January 14, 2025 – Midland, ON) Yesterday members of Council, CAO Rhonda Bunn and Director of Emergency Services/Fire Chief Richard Renaud, met with representatives from Midland’s Royal Canadian Legion Branch 80 to celebrate the Legion’s financial support of $6,650 for a new NFPA 1801 Certified Thermal Imaging Camera for Midland Fire.
“Thank you to the Royal Canadian Legion for this generous support. These lifesaving tools allow the Midland Fire Department to make critical decisions, ensuring overall safety while conducting rescue operations,” said Fire Chief Richard Renaud. “We are immensely grateful for the donation that made this investment possible.”
Royal Canadian Legion donations go to help veterans and the community at large. The Town of Midland Fire Department is thankful to be a recipient of support from the Ontario Provincial Command Branches and Ladies’ Auxiliary Charitable Foundation.
Certified thermal imaging cameras are valuable tools that enhance the fire department’s commitment to protect lives, property, and the environment. This new camera can be operated safely in hazardous environments to detect if someone is trapped, locate missing people, find hot spots, as well as assess the severity of a fire.
This upgrade in equipment advances the effectiveness of Midland Fire crews during emergency response efforts, ensuring Midland continues to be a safe and resilient community.
