The Town of Midland working to restore reputation as a Mural Community

The Town of Midland has issued two calls for artists with an application deadline of May 6, 2024 at 4:30pm. The Town of Midland boasts many historical murals within the downtown core and during the past few years, has installed murals at the Harbour and in parks as well as wrapping utility boxes in the downtown and throughout the town. 

What are these exciting opportunities?

1. To restore some of the existing historical murals in downtown Midland and bring them back to their former glory. Mural artists must be Ontario-based.
2. To create and lead a Community Mural as an art engagement project at the Town’s inaugural Midland Mural Festival on September 28, 2024. Festival attendees will have the opportunity to help paint this mural with guidance from the artist. Artists must live in Simcoe County or the Cities of Barrie or Orillia.

For both calls, artists must submit their resume, outline their artistic experience, provide samples of past work.  For the Community Mural, artists must include a concept drawing for consideration. Find more information on our Call for Artists page.
