Midland celebrates murals with first-ever Mural Festival
For Immediate Release
(September 24, 2024 – Midland, ON) The Town of Midland is inviting the community to help paint two new murals as part of the inaugural Mural Festival on September 28.
Artists will be facilitating the creation of these new artworks in Harbourside Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and all ages and abilities are welcome to participate.
“Midland has been a mural community for more than two decades and we look forward to celebrating all the amazing art that our residents and visitors enjoy throughout town,” said Mayor Bill Gordon. “We are very excited to add two brand new murals to the collection we already have.”
In addition to the two new murals, there will be free make-and-take activities offered by the Midland Public Library, the Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre, and Quest Art School + Gallery. The festival also includes live music, artist and artisan vendors and food trucks.
Through a call for artists, the Town selected mural artists to begin the process of restoring some of the existing murals and, weather permitting, festival attendees can see an artist working on one of the downtown murals.
Participants can take a self-guided tour or sign up for a guided tour of more than 50 artworks along the waterfront and in the downtown.
