Our parks offer beautiful views with paved and natural trails. The parks have naturalized areas, formal landscapes, and urban forests. Play on one of out great playground areas. Enjoy lunch at our various picnic areas or covered picnic shelters. Get active on our sports fields or basketball courts. Enjoy a round of disc golf with scenic views. Many of our facilities are wheelchair accessible. Washroom facilities are available in the summer season.
Our parks are in and around the natural surroundings, our landscaped features encourage wildlife. The Town of Midland takes pride in our naturalization program. The Town of Midland believes in protecting the areas within our parks.
Town of Midland Parks
Midland parks and trails are maintained from April 15th - November 15th each year. Off season use is at your own risk.
Bayview Park |
Features play equipment and basketball court. Former site of Bayview Public School, designated in 1960. |
Bob Merkley Park |
Features playground equipment and benches. Installed and developed by the developer of the subdivisions, Pratt Homes. Named in honour of Robert (Bob) Merkley a previous long-time parks and arena employee. Robert was often involved in service clubs and user groups. Dedicated in 2011. |
Cook Drive Park |

Cenotaph |
Features a monument to commemorate Canada's War Veterans. Site of annual Remembrance Day Ceremonies and the Candlelight Tribute Ceremonies. Dedicated in 1927. |
David Onley Park |
Features a large section of the Trans Canada Trail System and a monument for the workers. Dedicated in 2013 to honour David C. Onley, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario. A native of Midland, this park tributes his efforts as a champion of disability issues. |
Edgehill Park |
287 Bayshore Drive - Accessed at north end of George Street. Formerly "Huronia Park" Features play equipment, horticultural display, and the Edythe Clark Memorial Garden. Part of the park sites on the former grounds of the mansion owned by James Playfair. James was one of Midland's most prominent entrepreneurs. The fence known as the "Playfair fence", made of steel that came from a mill in Scotland. In 1996, portions of the fence have gone to the Huronia Museum to preserve a piece of this heritage. Designated as Midland's "Peace Park" as part of Canada's 125th Birthday in 1992. Designated in 1974. |
Ernest T. Bates Memorial Park |
A green space between Elcan Optical Technologies and a residential area. This parkland offers a pedestrian link for neighbours. Named in honour of Ernest T. Bates, former Midland Police Chief. Designated in 2010. |
Frazer Parkette |
Small passive park with horticultural displays. Interesting Fact: Named in honour of the Frazer family who donated land as a part of the Little Lake Park. The park once had a Shell Service Station, owned by former Mayor of Midland, "Shorty" Boyd. Acquired in 1970. |
Galloway Park |
Features 3 soccer fields, with washrooms. Named in honour of Mr. Edwin Walker of the Midland Lions Club. |
Gawley Park |
Features a beach area, playground equipment and nature trails. Formerly in the Township of Tay. Acquired in 1990. |
Georgian View Park |
Donated by the Kuchar Family in 2011, this wooded area serves as a valuable link in our trail system. Designated in 2011. |
Glenbrook Gardens |
356 Glenbrook Drive Park with nature trails and a natural woodlot leading to the waterfront. Formerly in the Township of Tay. Acquired in 1990. |
Harbourside Park |
Former site of CN station and rail line. Developer in 1999/2000. Buried in 2000, the millennium time capsule is scheduled to be open in 2050. |
Little Lake Park |
Beautiful parkland with natural and active settings. Includes disc golf, skate park, beach volleyball, dog park, play equipment, paved trails, community garden, washrooms and more. First official parkland of Midland, former site of a seasonal campground. Developed in 1920. The main road is maintained with snow removal during winter. Access to dog park and boat launch in winter is not maintained. No boat or watercraft is permitted to operate on Little Lake with an engine that is rated above 10 horsepower. |
Mac McAllen Park |
Features play equipment, ball diamond, and basketball court. Renamed in 1992 in memory of Harold "Mac" McAllen, long time Parks and Arena Manager. Designated in early 1970. |
McCullough Park |
Nature trails, scenic lookout area, and picnic area. Named in memory of former Mayor of Midland, Tom McCullough. Dedicated in 1972. |
Neezhoday Park |
Features a seating area, trail access to Easy Street and horticultural displays. This downtown green space joins into the outdoor area of the Midland Public Library. Renamed in 2014 to honour Andrew Mixemong, an elder in the community fallen victim to violent crime. Using Mixemong's native name, Neezhoday means 'two hearts' in Ojibwe. |
Pete Petterson Park |
Features a public boat launch, washroom facilities, ball diamond, and playground equipment. Along the Trans Canada Trail System. Named in memory of Pete Petterson who developed a Ski Jump Hill in Midland in the 1950's. Dedicated in 1975. |
Quota Park |
Features playground equipment, trail access, seating area, and horticultural displays. Named in recognition of a donation received from the Quota Club of Huronia. Acquired in late 1990. |
Regent Park |
This parkette was donated by Elcan Optical Technologies in 2010. Former site of Regent Public School. Dedicated in 2011. |
Sunrise Park |
347 Estate Court Undeveloped parkland with nature trails leading to the waterfront. Formerly in the Township of Tay. Acquired in 1990. |
Tiffin Park |
Features the "Gord Dyment" lighted hardball diamond. Tennis courts, pickleball courts, washroom facilities, play equipment, and scenic nature trails. The ball diamond honours Gord Dyment. Designated in early 1970. |

Trillium Woods Park |
345 Christine Drive Features playground equipment, wooded area, and access to school outdoor facilities. Acquired in early 1990. |
Midland Bay Landing Park |
Features a scenic lookout, great fishing spot, and seating areas. Former site of the Midland coal dock. |
Vas Kuchar Memorial Parkette |
Features trail access, gazebo and seating areas, scenic lookout, horticultural displays. Known as Tiffin by the Bay Parkette. Named in honour of Mr. Vas Kuchar. The developer of the Bowling Green Condominiums and Tiffin by the Bay project. Acquired in 2000. |
Veterans Waterfront Park |
Features a scenic waterfront trail with a naturalized waterfront. Has a wheelchair accessible seating area and the site of Scouts Arboretum. Interesting Fact: Dedicated to Canadian War Veterans in 2005. Acquired in 2000. |
