Consumer Fireworks
Fireworks can be set off in the Town of Midland to celebrate major holidays, special events or even on your own property. Under all circumstances, a permit is required. Before purchasing fireworks, check the fire rating and follow simple safety procedures found on the Government of Canada's Firework Safety guidelines.

The use or sale of firecrackers, prohibited fireworks, and flying lanterns is not allowed in Midland see By-law 2024-33
Setting off consumer fireworks
Fireworks can be set off on designated days only (when there is no fire ban), with a permit, between 6:00pm and 11:00pm on:
- Victoria Day or Canada Day, or for the seven days before, or three days after these days,
- or additional day as approved by permit.
Application to set off Fireworks:
- Must be submitted 7 days prior to the discharge date.
- Complete the online form, or download and print form and email it to the Fire Department.
- There is no cost for the permit.
- Check the fire rating before setting off fireworks.
Selling consumer fireworks
To sell consumer fireworks, merchants must:
- Complete the application form, download and print form and email it to the Fire Department.
- Request an inspection to be completed prior to sale, as outlined in By-law 2024-33.

Planning an event with display fireworks, pyrotechnic or special effects?
Organizations or individuals can apply for a special permit. Regulations apply.

- Completed Application must be submitted to the Fire Department 28 days prior to the event.
